How can anyone make a difference just by trying to conserve their consumption of energy and water? It wont happen over night and believe it or not, it’s an infectious attitude that’s growing with participants faster than the opposition. An obligation to educate ourselves and children as well as change our habits just a little over time is not only painless but gratifying as well.

I do not want to drive an extremely small car that is a liability, take one minute showers, and use one light after dark until I fall asleep. That isn’t what making a difference is about. Here are some simple changes and investments people can do that have a tremendous effect long term. First, change out a few incandescent bulbs with CFL bulbs. One bulb last almost 10 times longer and uses 75% less energy. You don’t have to go crazy, just change a few out by your bedside table, even some outside. It will make a difference. Then make sure you doors to the outside don’t have air blowing through the cracks. If so, replace the seals. Wrap your water heater with insulation. These are all very basic preliminary stuff that will pay you back by saving you money immediately. Let your kids help in understanding the difference.

Then when your really ready to make a difference, look into solar energy and solar thermal water heating systems. What country builds and manages best to energy production and consumption will lead the way for the future. lets do our part.
