A processing plant based in St. Pauls, North Carolina will soon be home to a large solar thermal project.

Prestage Foods is installing the solar thermal system on their 260,000 square foot poultry processing plant in southern North Carolina, and will see an estimated 100,000 gallons per day of hot water heated by the sun.

According to a spokesperson familiar with the project, “The solar farm will be constructed in three phases, with each consisting of 700 ground-mounted flat-plate solar thermal panels. Phases one and two will be completed this year, and the third phase is estimated to be complete in March 2012.”

For more information on how the sun can be used to provide free hot water, please visit our Solar Thermal section of the website.
