Fisker Unveils New Plug-In ‘Surf’ With Solar Roof

California-based Fisker Automotive recently unveiled a new plug-in vehicle model they are dubbing the ‘Surf.’ Like their earlier model, the Karma, the Surf has a pair of electric motors which can be recharged with an EV charging station. The Surf delivers 408 horsepower with 32 mile all-electric range and includes a 133-watt solar panel integrated into the roof.


Kohl’s Plans Include Free EV Charging Stations At 33 Locations

Kohl’s department stores in Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland, Michigan, New York, Oregon, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington will soon offer free EV charging stations to customers. Kohl’s already powers over 100 of their stores with solar panels. For access to the free charging stations customers can contact the number provided on the charging station or speak with the customer service desk.


Google To Add More California Solar Installations

Google is investing $94 million dollars in four commercial solar installations in California. The four projects will have a combined solar generation capacity of 88MW (megawatts) which will produce 160,000 megawatt-hours annually, or enough solar power for 13,000 homes.


Photovoltaic Solar Powered Plane To Fly In 2014

It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a… plane? You may remember our earlier blog post on the PlanetSolar photovoltaic solar powered boat back in September, and now solar panels are taking over the sky! Solar Impulse, founded by Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg, plans to fly the skies in its solar plane in 2014 powered by 22,000 photovoltaic solar cells.
