Solar Energy USA Crosses 1 GW Solar Output Mark

Solar Energy USA today announced the achievement of producing over 1 gigawatt (GW) worth of solar power from their grid-tied Enphase microinverter-based photovoltaic systems.

1 GW is equivalent to 1,000 megawatts (MW) or 1,000,000 kilowatts (kW). 1 GW of solar can power up to 750,000 average American homes.

According to company spokesman Michael Chance, “The microinverter system has proved its value with respect to residential solar panel installations, helping our customers maximize their power output and return on investment. The average performance of PV systems using Enphase microinverters significantly exceeds many PVWatts performance estimates compared to conventional string or gang inverter technology. It is likely that factors such as module-level MPPT, high efficiency during low-light levels, and high system reliability are driving the performance advantages of Enphase microinverter-based installations.”
